Before you can set up an effective study environment you need to make sure that your notes are organised in a logical, usable fashion. Piles of folders and jumbled notes from old classes can make your life very challenging. It’s best to invest a little time restoring order to the chaos and developing a reference system that will make your study efficient!
File your notes neatly in folders (for each subject) with dividers (for each topic). You can use colourful stationery to differentiate between subjects and brighten your study space. Then file them in logical order in bookshelves, or even boxes, so you can access them quickly. If you file your notes after reviewing them in the evening this will help keep everything in order and help you stick to a routine of revision and tidiness.
