In 1976, as a university student, I began tutoring Mathematics to high school students. Fortunately, I had some very inspirational guidance from my father, who emphasised that a good teacher must make their students think for themselves. He explained to me how this can be done by asking a series of carefully constructed questions, rather than simply lecturing and expecting students to learn by rote.
I soon discovered that this incremental questioning technique was very effective indeed and my students were achieving extraordinary success at school and in the HSC. As their understanding and problem-solving skills increased, their confidence and self-reliance grew week by week.
I started building my team of elite tutors in 1990. Since then, my team and I have spent countless thousands of hours developing and refining our carefully structured educational materials and fine-tuning the PRIOR Questioning Technique. We have expanded our range of tuition programmes to Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry and I am proud to say that our teaching methods and original resources are widely considered to be the best of their kind in Australia.
These days I enjoy teaching more than ever! I love to share my passion for education and am personally involved in selecting, training and developing my staff and aligning them with my vision. PRIOR teachers and tutors have exceptional knowledge, superb communication skills and are inspiring role models for our students.
To date, we have helped more than 20,000 students succeed in their studies. We are committed to doing whatever it takes to help our students achieve their maximum potential. But our commitment alone is not enough. The key player in any learning environment is the student.
